A dee shackle is a U-shaped or D-shaped metal component with a narrower D-shaped bow. It is designed for in-line tension and is not suitable for side loading. The dee is the curved portion of the shackle, and the eyes are the parts that support the pin. The pin is a steel bolt that passes through the eyes of the shackle.Dee shackles are available in various sizes, ranging from 3/16" to 3", and are categorized into US Standard, JIS Standard, and European Standard. The Forged and Free Forged specifications are commonly used in industrial applications.

• US Standard: Dee shackles are manufactured to US Fed Spec RR-C-271 and are available in Grade 8 and Grade 10.
• JIS Standard: Dee shackles are manufactured to JIS B 2001 and are available in Grade 8 and Grade 10.
• European Standard: Dee shackles are manufactured to EN 13889 and are available in Grade 6, Grade 8, and Grade 10.
